Japanese automaker Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) today unveiled its premium vehicle offering for the mid size segment in India - the new Nissan ‘SUNNY’. The car will hit the market in the next few months to coincide with the festive season.
The car will be available in 1.5 litre Petrol version. Nissan SUNNY is based on the popular V- (Versatile) platform, the one used in the Nissan Micra.
Speaking on the occasion Kiminobu Tokuyama, MD & CEO, Nissan Motor India said, “The unveiling of the iconic Nissan SUNNY today reinstates our seriousness on business operations in India. It reiterates that we are as per schedule on our Indian plans including future product launches. Nissan SUNNY highlights the versatility of the global V- platform that allows us to benchmark ourselves with novel design features for the mid-size segment."
Speaking on the growing Nissan product porfolio, Dinesh Jain, CEO, Hover Automotive India said, "We have built a robust chain of 40 dealerships nationwide in a period of over one year and we are on schedule to open up 100 dealerships by end of 2012.
Nissan SUNNY is a premium car, which has been designed at Nissan Design and Nissan Motor Co Ltd headquarters in Japan along with inputs from 170 countries where it would be sold worldwide.
It made its global debut at the 8th China (Guangzhou) International Automobile Exhibition in December 2010.
The petrol variant of the car will be manufactured at the Renault Nissan alliance Orgadam facility in Chennai
