Post the success of Sivaji, in which this young actress starred with Superstar Rajinikanth, Shriya seems to have had few good movies to boast of in Kollywood.
With Rowthiram set for release, will the tide turn for Shriya?
Some industry insiders say her bad luck started with Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan when she opted to do an item number with comedian Vadivelu. Ask her about this and she says nonchalantly, "One of the many things that I learnt from my mother is to never regret. I don't look back. What I did then was part of my career and I don't think I made a mistake. There are ups and downs in my career and I take both in my stride. There are lot of good things that happened to me in the industry and I'm very happy with the way my career has shaped up."
So, will she do special numbers in the future? "I don't know about that, but I haven't signed up any dance numbers in either Tamil or Telugu recently," she says.
While Rowthiram is the only film Shriya has in Tamil, she is nevertheless excited about the projects she has in Hindi and Telugu. "I'm on to sign something big in Hindi. I don't want to talk about it now and jinx it," she laughs, adding, "I'd rather let the director and producers announce the project. I've just finished shooting for Deepa Mehta's adaptation of Midnight's Children. It was a big learning experience for me and I'm glad to have worked with her in three films successively
