Hoje, aceito a situação melhor”, disse.

As know, Chevrolet Beat is one of the popular hatchbacks of the country. America’s leading automaker General Motors had till now launched only the petrol and LPG variants of Beat in India so far, and the customers had been expecting Chevrolet Beat diesel variants for long time. Finally, the company has planned to launch diesel Chevrolet Beat on 2011 July 25th.
As far as 2011 Chevrolet Beat diesel exterior is concerned, the car will have more or less similar looks as its petrol versions though it weighs a bit more than the SmartTech petrol Beat. Of course, on rear side the diesel Beat will come with TCDI badge. As of now, there are no changes expected in diesel Chevrolet Beat 2011 interiors but there may be slight changes which we can know after its launch.
Coming to the engine part, 2011 Chevrolet Beat diesel will come with 1.3 liter multijet diesel engine with CRDI motor. In order to decrease the volume of the engine, GM has cut off one cylinder in diesel Beat, which in turn not only reduces the weight of the car but it also increases the Beat diesel’s mileage. Apart from that, the car also comes with smooth shifting five speed manual gearbox transmission option and it has the capacity to produce peak power of 58 bhp and maximum torque of 150 nm
It is expected that the Beat diesel will be one of the most fuel efficient hatchbacks of its segment. According to ARIA, the 2011 diesel Chevrolet Beat will give a mileage of 24 km per liter but practically we can expect that the car will give at least 20 km per liter for sure.
Chevrolet Beat diesel safety features are also remarkable as the car is loaded with major safety features like airbags and anti-breaking system (ABS). The Chevrolet Beat diesel’s final price has not yet been announced but dealers have started booking orders by making the customers to deposit Rs 10,000 per order

Happy Parent's day Parent's day, many of us gift our parents varied things like chocolates and flowers

Every year on the Parent's day, many of us gift our parents varied things like chocolates and flowers. But, this time let's make it a little more memorable by gifting our parents the gift of communication.

Every year, the fourth Sunday of July is regarded to be the day to honour parents worldwide. There are many such days that focus on singularities like the Father's day and Mother's day as well but the significance of this day is more because on this day the whole world celebrates parenthood as a whole.
Every year on the Parent's day, many of us gift our parents varied things like chocolates and flowers. But, this time let's make it a little more memorable by gifting our parents the gift of communication.
In this modern world, where mobile phones have become a bare necessity everyone has a phone but there are still very less people who own a smartphone. So this Parents Day let's gift our parent an upgrade to smartphones and let them also access the smarter side of mobile telephony. If they already own one, then these smartphones will serve as an upgrade for them to an even smarter device.
We have categorised smartphones on the basis of their functionality and usage and made out combinations for a neat little surprise for our parents and little more help for the reader.
Camera centric devices
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc (Rs 27,000) for dad and Nokia N8 Pink (Rs 21,500) for mom:
Gone are the days when smartphones just used to be smarter data centric devices and nothing more. Today smartphones have conquered new frontiers be it multimedia or data usage. So if you are of the opinion that your parents need a camera based smartphone then the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and Nokia N8 Pink combo is the best for them.
Sony Ericsson Xperia arc features an 8 megapixel camera which offers superior imagery with the use of Sony's patented Exmor sensor technology. This smartphone runs on the latest version of Google's Android Gingerbread operating system and has a big 4.2 inch display to make things clear. Its 1 GHz processor ensures that things remain fluid while using this device and it also comes with an 8 GB of internal storage space.
The Nokia N8 Pink has been recently added to the Nokia smartphone lineup by Nokia specifically targeted at women who loves to take pictures. By far, Nokia N8 has the best camera ever to feature on a smartphone. And with the launch of the Symbian Anna, Nokia has upgraded the whole N8 lineup with this new operating system. The N8 features a 12 megapixel camera and a total of 16 GB of internal storage to keep the shutter bugs happy.
Touch screen centric devices
Samsung Galaxy SII (Rs 28,500) for dad and Micromax Bling 2 (Rs 8,000) for mom
Today touchscreen mobile phones are among the best selling handsets in the world. Few touchscreen handsets are responsive even to the tip of the finger and offer functionalities like multi-touch which definitely helps in getting tasks done faster and better.
Samsung Galaxy SII is the second generation Galaxy device from Samsung's stable. The device boasts of the biggest smartphone screen size till now, standing tall at 4.3 inches. And to make that work better, Samsung has incorporated a 1.2 GHz processor in this device.
Women always look for style and a little bit of fashion in anything they use, so how can this be not considered vis-a-vis the mobile phone they carry. Micromax's second generation Bling device has come up as an Android based smartphone but carries the same aura as created by the original Bling device.
The Bling 2 gets encrusted with Swarowski crystals. Besides, it features a slightly smaller but a much responsive capacitive touch screen along with a speedy 600 MHz processor that manages things well and keeps the device ready for action anytime.
Business centric devices
Blackberry Bold 9780 (Rs 21,500) for dad and Blackberry Pearl 3G 9100 (Rs 13,300) for mom
BlackBerry devices are always considered the best as far as the business phones go. Most executives today prefer the small little device and depend on it for exchanging mails, talking to people and doing a lot of other stuff as well.
Built on the same lines as the Bold 9650, the Bold 9780 is marginally smaller and thinner than its predecessor and weighs lesser by 14 grams. The Bold 9780 features a 2.44 inch screen, 65,000 colour TFT display with a resolution of 480 x 360 pixels offering ample viewing comfort to the users.
The biggest change in the Bold 3 is the inclusion of the OS 6.0 as a preinstalled option, which is the most appreciated BlackBerry operating system till now. Although much better suited for a touch based operation, the new OS 6.0 works flawlessly with the track pad also.
On the other hand, the once lost legacy of Blackberry Pearl has been resurrected by the new Pearl 3G smartphone. The classic half Qwerty keypad makes sure that user need to type the minimum amount of letters to type. The Pearl 3G has gotten a total new look, some weight loss to and not to forget the inclusion of the OS 6 in this one, making it the perfect choice for business women especially with the pink colour. And no more worries about the trackball as it too has been replaced with an optical track pad

Peter De Villiers insists he doesn't regret bringing a second-string squad to Australasia despite

Peter De Villiers insists he doesn't regret bringing a second-string squad to Australasia despite South Africa suffering a 39-20 mauling against the Wallabies in their Tri Nations rugby series opener.
But with 21 frontline players back at home, the Springboks coach admitted his inexperienced line-up were out of their depth as they started the World Cup build up with South Africa's heaviest loss in Australia in five years.
"I felt sorry for John (Smit) at one stage. To be the captain is one thing, but to have some leaders around you to calm down the new guys was non-existent," De Villiers said.
"I hope the lessons that they learned (included) the difference to play for your country at Test level and to play at Super 15 level is quite remarkable.
"(But) it's not by choice that we brought a lot of new guys here."
Despite conceding his Test rookies had been overwhelmed, De Villiers also felt the Wallabies were worthy of rich praise for their sparkling performance.
The Wallabies scored five tries to two and could have crossed for three or four more if not for final passes not finding their mark.
"They were quite brilliant. The decisions they made were quite spot on," the Boks coach said.
"Some people will say soft tries, but I say the decisions they made on turnover ball were quite brilliant."
Veteran skipper Smit felt all was not lost for the Springboks, who will back up on Saturday night against the All Blacks in Wellington.
"What I enjoyed about our younger side was that they chased to the death," said Smit.
"There were tries going begging out there for the Wallabies and there was a lot of guts chasing to make sure it didn't happen, and they are the things we can draw upon.
"We'll have to learn from this, let those guys take the experience in and then be pretty harsh on Monday in terms of what we trained for three weeks, but didn't quite execute well enough."
Smit, a 103-Test veteran, said his under-strength side deserved credit for not letting the scoreline blow out even further.
"It's more of an experience for those guys who haven't been out on this arena and just to feel the difference in speed and physicality," he said.
"Every game you lose is a confidence blow, I suppose, but a lot of these guys wouldn't have experienced Test rugby yet.

posed as hunters to kill rhinos in South Africa,The rhino poaching has been fueled by growing demand for rhino horns

A rhino horn trafficking syndicate recruited Thai hookers to pose as hunters in order to evade South African laws limiting the trophy hunting of rhinos, according to local media reports.
South Africa has seen a dramatic increase in the number of rhinos killed illegally for their horns. The rhino poaching has been fueled by growing demand for rhino horns in Vietnam and other southeast Asian countries, where the horns are believed to have medicinal uses.

(More from GlobalPost in South Africa: South African rhinos under fire; South Africa's rhino war heats up)
South African regulations limiting trophy hunting of rhinos allow a hunter to legally shoot one rhino a year, with a permit.
But under this newly revealed scheme, Thai prostitutes and strippers, many of whom had been trafficked to South Africa to work in brothels and strip clubs, would pose in sham rhino hunts to skirt the hunting regulations and then export the horns, South Africa’s Media24 reports.
The women were hired by Chumlong Lemtongthai, 43, a Thai man who was arrested last week near Johannesburg, and who was part of a syndicate alleged to have sold at least 40 rhino horns, South African newspapers reported.
The trafficking syndicate would hunt rhinos, and then the rhino horn trophies would be shipped from South Africa to southeast Asia, Media24 reports.
“Investigators believe the restriction forced the syndicate to find an ever-changing pool of new "hunters" who could apply for permits and ensure a steady supply of rhino horn trophies,” Media24 reports.
Chumlong paid $9,600 (65,000 rands) a kilo for the horns and sold them on the black market for $55,000 (380,000 rands) a kilo, according to media reports.
The Thai sex workers, who were said to have never fired a shot in their lives, would appear in photos holding a rifle next to the dead rhino.
In 2010, 333 rhinos were killed illegally for their horns — a dramatic increase from only 13 rhinos poached in 2007. Already this year, more than 200 rhinos have been killed

India's batting great Rahul Dravid is back to his best form with an unbeaten ton against England in the first Test

India's batting great Rahul Dravid is back to his best form with an unbeaten ton against England in the first Test but he admitted that he doubted himself after he had a dismal series in South Africa last year.

In Pics: Indian Test centurions at Lord's

"When runs don't come you do doubt yourself. It's natural occupational (hazard) for sportspersons," stated Dravid whose typically back-to-wall unbeaten 103 - his 33rd Test ton avert the follow-on for India against England.

Dravid made 120 runs from six innings of three Tests at 20 apiece in South Africa but is now back to his best with two centuries in one month - 116 in Jamaica last month and at Lord's on Saturday.

"I think this one is one of my best ever. Jamaica was special because we won the Test and it was not easy wicket to bat on. And now this one, given the context of the game and conditions, has been most satisfying and fulfilling," he said.

"I always love touring England. You just look at this Test, the packed stands, Test cricket is still supported here and as a Test player who loves Test cricket, there is no better place. They support and clap irrespective of who takes wickets or makes runs. It's a lovely tour to play because you know you will be playing in front of packed houses."

Dravid missed out on a century in his maiden innings in Test cricket at this very venue in 1996 but made up for it this time, 15 years on.

"I must admit it did stay with me (missing out on century in 1996). But it was not the end of the world - I felt if it happened here good otherwise there are a lot of great cricketers who have not got it.

"But it was at the back of my mind, I knew I had one more go. Now having done so in circumstances like this makes it feel special. It's good to have your name on the honours board for this is one honour which is still talked about the most among international cricketers," he said.

"At that time (in 1996), I never understood significance (of missing out on hundred at debut). I was a young man just happy to get a game. To end up with 95 runs I couldn't have asked for a better start. 15 years later, I know the game has given me so much and changed me as a person. I was a really shy young man in 1996," Dravid said.

The 38-year-old batsman was not as much pleased that he had now moved into number two spot among top run getters as he was with the contribution which his knock did to the team.

"I don't look at it that way. It's the longevity, the fact that after 15 years I can still make a contribution, still play knocks I want to play for India in situations such as this, I felt good and really enjoyed it today," he said.

The entire focus in the build-up to the Test was on Tendulkar's 100th international hundred and Dravid said, in a way, it was ideal for him.

"He is talked about the most and probably rightly so. He is the true legend of the game and was batting well today. He has another innings coming up for me. (But to not have the attention) suits me, when all the pressure is on him, I can slip by quietly and do my business," he said.

"I have been privileged to have played with Sachin and Laxman, the true legends of the game. Having played with them and those stands, these are great memories who would stay with us even when we are finished with the game."

Dravid said he did not try to farm the strike with tailenders for his individual hundred because the only thing he was worried about was the follow-on target.

"The only thing important at that stage was how to get to 275. I spoke to Praveen and said let's take every run. I backed him to play some shots, to hit a few and he contributed 17 runs even though he was lucky at times.

"It was only when 275 runs were reached and I was left with only 6-7 runs to get to my century, that I started thinking about it," said Dravid.

The ball swung all day and batting was very challenging, said Dravid.

"It swung all day. It was cloudy as well. I remember speaking to Dhoni perhaps that let's hope some sun comes out."

Whenever Dravid has scored a century, India has never lost a Test except once in Zimbabwe in 2001.

"It's a good omen though I must say it's got to be a challenge to fight back from this situation. But we have been fighting from tight situations in the last 2-3 years and hopefully we would do it again," he said.

Dravid felt it was important to take early wickets on the fourth day to keep England's charge in check.

"We would try to take early wickets. May be 4-5 wickets in the first session. If it's not so, we would be on backfoot and trying to draw the game."

The two recent hundreds have given Dravid a new lease of life but the batsman was not willing to commit himself if he believes he has now secured another two years of his with the Indian team.

"I don't think so, it's something I learnt from Sachin. He does not talk about future, he tries to live in present. He has been a great inspiration for me. I am only going to stick to my next innings and not about anything else."

Kajal Agarwal, a known name down South, made her debut with the recently released movie 'Singham', starring Ajay Devgn and directed by Rohit Shetty.

Though Kajal has been city-hopping to promote the movie, the girl has been missing from 'Singham' promotions of late. This has sparked off rumours that the girl isn't too happy with her role in 'Singham', and is miffed with the makers.

However, Kajal rubbished all these rumours when we spoke to her: I thoroughly enjoyed doing the movie. I'm happy with the way it has shaped up. I'm not angry with anybody. I haven't been cheated. The only reason I wasn't at the promotions is because I'm unwell. Also, I'm busy shuttling between promoting Singham and shooting for my film down South. So yes, it's a bit chaotic."

About Bollywood plans, Kajal says, "Being a part of a good film is always a treat whichever part of India or the world it comes from. I want to be a part of cinema, that's all."

General Motors India will launch their Chevrolet Beat diesel for the Indian car market on 25th July 2011

General Motors India will launch their Chevrolet Beat diesel for the Indian car market on 25th July 2011. General Motors India, President and Managing Director Karl Slym had this to say.”With fluctuation in fuel prices in India from time to time, the new diesel Beat, the prices of which will be announced at the launch will revolutionize the small car segment, with its engine capacity and fuel economy.”
You see the new diesel Beat is powered by a 1-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged engine. What makes this a smart choice is that the smaller engine helps keep the price down close to the petrol versions and the turbocharge helps generate enough power and performance to keep the Beat racing.
The company, which sold about 1.1 lakh cars last year in India, was doubling its growth rate in India as compared to industry average and expected to sell about 1.4 lakh vehicles in all variants this year. General Motors now has 250 outlets in India, and demand in rural areas is increasing. Expansion plans include having sales and service network in 300 locations by the end of 2011.

Zaheer Khan’s performance this morning, pondering whether Operation Greggs has been put into practice

Bert has just left a comment drawing attention to Zaheer Khan’s performance this morning, pondering whether Operation Greggs has been put into practice. Operation Greggs involves plying Zaheer with meat and tatty pies until he’s bowling at Praveen Kumar pace.
Bert is right to raise this possibility, but it is worth investigating more thoroughly and thus far, we see little evidence that Operation Greggs has had any impact.
According to Hawkeye, Zaheer’s deliveries have averaged 80-odd mph thus far and he’s even hit 88.6mph with one. This is perfectly respectable.
He’s also got 2-9 at the time of writing. We move that a different pie be introduced. The man has a weakness, we just need to identify precisely what it is.

Gujarat Technology University (GTU) has once again postponed the last date for the submission

Due to delayed results of the final year engineering students, Gujarat Technology University (GTU) has once again postponed the last date for the submission of marksheets for students seeking admission to MBA and MCA courses. The last date has been fixed on July 25.
Earlier, GTU had decided July 7 as the last date of submission.
However the date was postponed to July 18 as the results of the final year examination of the engineering students of Saurashtra University, South Gujarat University and Gujarat University have still not been declared.
Around 4,000 engineering students have applied for admission in MBA and MCA and are awaiting their results and marksheets.

Google has announced it's closing down the labs and killing off many of the experimental products created therein, all in the name of increasing its focus on developing products

Sad news for anyone who has enjoyed a giddy thrill or two of playing with a freshly released app from Google Labs: Google has announced it's closing down the labs and killing off many of the experimental products created therein, all in the name of increasing its focus on developing products that have obvious benefits to the company's bottom line.
Google announced the news on its official blog, stating, "We're prioritizing our product efforts. As part of that process, we've decided to wind down Google Labs. While we've learned a huge amount by launching very early prototypes in Labs, we believe that greater focus is crucial if we're to make the most of the extraordinary opportunities ahead."
The post goes on: "In many cases, this will mean ending Labs experiments -- in others we'll incorporate Labs products and technologies into different product areas. And many of the Labs products that are Android apps today will continue to be available on Android Market."
A Google rep, Jason Friedenfelds, did emphasize that not all manner of Google labs are going away. "We don't have any plans to change in-product experimentation channels like Gmail Labs or Maps Labs. We'll continue to experiment with new features in each of our products," he told me.
The news inevitably raises questions as to how this shift will affect future innovation from Google. One the one hand, the announcement does signal potentially greater business maturity at Google. A little more focus and discipline with its R&D dollars, channeled toward specific products and divisions, could mean that the company will roll out even better-polished products with broader appeal more quickly. That's certainly how Google is spinning it.
Google's investment in R&D is by no means trivial, either. Last year, the company spent $3.7 billion on R&D, compared to $29.3 billion in operating revenue. That represents a 12.6 percent investment in R&D. For the sake of comparison, Oracle spent $4.5 billion on R&D while taking in $35.6 billion, a 12.6 percent investment; Microsoft spent $8.7 billion on R&D against $62.5 billion in revenue, a 13.9 percent investment; IBM reported spending $6.0 billion on research and development against $99.9 billion in revenue, meaning it put just 6 percent of operating revenue into R&D; HP raked in $126 billion while spending $3 billion on research and development (2.4 percent), and Apple spent $1.8 billion, compared to its operating revenue of $65.2 billion. That works out to 2.8 percent.
So yes, Google has said it will keep pouring resources into innovation, sans the technology incubator that was Google Labs. One must wonder, though, if the closure will result in hampering the type of creation and innovation for which Google is known. After all, plenty of well-known, well-liked, commercially successful products have emerged from Google Labs, such as Gmail and Google Calendar. (So, too, have less popular products like Google Wave and the App Inventor for Android.) Will Google employees still have the opportunity, resources, and incentive to experiment and innovate as they did in Google Labs? Or will they be required to formulate business plans with earnings projections before they can hammer out a single line of code?
One also wonders whether the closure of Google Labs and the associated focus on products will have an adverse impact on employee morale. Would-be job applicants have been lured to Google in the past by the prospect on working on side projects, on company time, for the sake of technological creativity as opposed to cold, hard profitability. Eliminating Google Labs and the freedom it allowed could give some Googlers pause to re-evaluate their job satisfaction.
Notably, employees who have left Google, including Dhanji Prasanna and Douwe Osinga, have cited the company's shift to "product focus" as a reason for departing. The general impression: Google has become a less fun place to work because of the narrow product focus, which also has resulted in internal battles for position and over how employees are rewarded for particular efforts.
Ideally, Google will be able to strike a balance between keeping shortsighted shareholders happy on a quarterly basis, while continuing to invest in developing Google Labs-type products and features under an umbrella other than the Google Labs moniker. Those sorts of experiments arguably amount to good old-fashioned research and development. Further, they're evidently a way to keep engineers and developers engaged and excited about their jobs, traits any good CEO wants from his or her employees.

Sachin Tendulkar with the batting great on the verge of another landmark record

Sachin Tendulkar is old, there's no escaping that.
I can say this because when I shake his hand out in the middle before play today, it will be as one-time adversaries.
And 18 years after I quit professional cricket, Sachin is the only man left on the international circuit that I played against.

Tendulkar ct Stewart b Botham 35, and it was a beauty if I remember rightly, back in 1992 during the World Cup.
If you'd have told me then that this little lad would still be playing in 2011, having just won the World Cup and be on the brink of reaching his 100th international hundred, I'd have said you were mad.
But then Sachin doesn't deal in the ordinary. He has batted andand batted his way into the record books and he has done it with the style and grace off the field under intense pressure that no-one could match - certainly not me.
I have nothing but admiration and respect for Sachin.
He is an all-time great of the game, whose love and passion for cricket is unparalleled.
If ever there was a role model to be had for a young cricketer, then Sachin is it.
The thing I look forward to most when I turn up for commentary duty is an England win, but a close second comes highquality cricket from high-quality players.
So I will walk through the gates at Lord's today knowing I'm guaranteed at least one of those things because Sachin's name will be on the team sheet.
This guy is a phenomenon and if I were the England team I wouldn't feel any better about the fact that his highest score at this ground is 37.
If anything, that would make me feel worse.
He will be totally focused on getting to his 100th hundred, and there is no place in the world that he would rather reach the landmark than Lord's.
It would be a dream, a fairytale for him if he were to make it there. The only problem for England is that he has a habit of having them come true, and when Sachin is on song there is very little you can do. Between us, I think we have the most appropriate nicknames in all of India. I'm called Iron Bottom and he's the Little Master and each time he goes to the wicket he tends to put on a masterclass.
As much of a fan as I am of his, I do think our bowlers can succeed in checking his progress.
In fact, I think England will win this series because in my opinion they are already the best team in the world and this summer will simply confirm it.
They are the coming force in world cricket and unlike India, who have a lot of playersintheir twilight years, this is a young, vibrant England with more power to add.
James Anderson and Chris Tremlett are forming the most potent opening attack in the game to rival Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel.
Behind them is the best spinner in the world in Graeme Swann and alongside him should be the everimproving and impressive Tim Bresnan.
Stuart Broad might not be happy with that assessment - but I don't see how he justifies his place in the England team at the moment.
His lengths are all wrong, his frustrations are coming to the boil too often and, crucially, he is not taking any wickets.
So this is the 2,000th Test match of all time. Statistics don't thrill me - people and performances are what matter, so if Sachin gets to 100 hundreds at Lord's I'll be applauding him, not because of the numbers but because he is a great player, a great man and a great ambassador for the game.

South African schoolchildren sang to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 93rd birthday On Monday

JOHANNESBURG — Millions of South African schoolchildren sang to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 93rd birthday Monday, leading a worldwide chorus of birthday wishes sent to the anti-apartheid icon. More than 12 million students sang a special version of “Happy Birthday” before lessons began Monday.
Mandela also received birthday wishes from South African leaders including President Jacob Zuma and from U.S. President Barack Obama. In a statement sent Sunday, Obama called Mandela “a beacon for the global community, and for all who work for democracy, justice and reconciliation.”
Mandela, who has retired from public life, is expected to spend the day with his family in his home village of Qunu, some 600 miles (1,000 kilometers) south of Johannesburg.
In 2009, his birthday was declared as an international day devoted to public service.
People around the world have been asked to mark the occasion by giving 67 minutes of their time to work in their local community — one minute for every year of Mandela’s public service. He became South Africa’s first black president after spending 27 years in prison for his fight against apartheid. He was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.
Mandela’s public appearances have become increasingly rare, though he did appear at the closing ceremony of the World Cup one year ago.
Earlier this year, he was hospitalized for a few days with an acute respiratory infection. Last month, though, he held a private meeting with Michelle Obama when the first lady traveled to South Africa with her daughters.
His foundation also has recently released “Nelson Mandela By Himself,” a book featuring more than 2,000 Mandela quotations on topics ranging from freedom to forgiveness to HIV/AIDS.
For many South Africans, the elder statesman is also thought of as a beloved family member and referred to by his clan name, Madiba.
Students at the Johannesburg School for the Blind and Partially Sighted sang and danced Monday morning as they wished their “Tata Mandela” a happy birthday.
Most of the students are fire victims from South Africa’s impoverished townships and have received assistance from the Children of Fire charity.
This year, the charity held a mock trial at the school to illustrate Mandela’s role in fostering reconciliation after apartheid’s end. On trial: several children accused of stealing from the kitchen.
Charity founder Bronwen Jones said the lesson is especially valuable for children who have been through adversity. She said one in three of the children were burned intentionally.
“For them to be able to rise from that and forgive the people who hurt them, there’s no better example than Madiba,” she said.

greater demand for saffron garments, the traditional costume of kanwariyas devotees of Lord Shiva

Basking in the glory of being the permanent abode of Lord Shiva, the holy city has started witnessing greater demand for saffron garments, the traditional costume of kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva). A large number of devotees thronged the city on Sunday to worship the principal deity on the first Monday of holy Shrawan month falling on July 18 this year.

While the market in busy Gadaulia area near the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple witnessed brisk sale of saffron garments, other prominent market areas including Lanka, Bhelupur, Sigra, Maidagin and trans-Varuna areas are also reaping the harvest.

"This is the only auspicious month of the year that witnesses craving for saffron garments as they hold special significance for Lord Shiva, who is worshipped with flower, water and milk. As the period is restricted to a month, efforts are made to lure devotees with attractive messages and pictures of deities," said Vinod Jaiswal, one of the shopkeepers in Gadaulia area.

The list of items displayed for buyers (devotees) was long as it ranged from T-shirts and shorts to shirts and pyjamas, all saffron-coloured items to suit the occasion. Similarly, saffron sarees and blouses along with salwar and kurtis were also available for women devotees, who come from different parts to offer water (Gangajal) and milk to Lord Shiva.

"We have already ordered for fresh stock of saffron garments as the strength is going to rise in the coming days with more demand pouring in. In addition, we have tried to provide all related articles including the decorated 'kanwar' (the carrier used for carrying water and milk) along with containers to carry milk and water," said Ashok Pandey, a shopkeeper from Dasaswamedh area

IndiGo has hired 35 pilots from rival Kingfisher Airlines over the past six to eight months, sources told ET

Budget carrier IndiGo has hired 35 pilots from rival Kingfisher Airlines over the past six to eight months, sources told ET.

Gurgaon-based IndiGo, which kicked off its expansion plans with one of the largest aircraft orders in the industry earlier this year, is looking to hire aggressively. The hired pilots are said to be senior in rank, operating Kingfisher's ATR and A320 fleet.

At least half of them are from Kingfisher' ATR fleet (turboprop aircraft with 60-70 seats capacity).

"We have a requirement of 700-800 pilots over the next five years," IndiGo said in a reply to a mail sent to it over the issue. One of the pilots from Kingfisher said: "IndiGo has promised pilots from Kingfisher a command position within a fixed time on its A320 type and will impart conversion training from small aircraft to single-aisle A320."

India's aviation sector does not allow poaching and pilots must serve a six-month notice to their employer before moving on to anew assignment.

But industry sources said airlines have been cross hiring over the past one-year, as some airlines, such as Vijay Mallya-promoted Kingfisher, are expanding slowly while some struggling ones, such as Air India, have pilots scouting for jobs. Such pilots serve as a good resource for the fast-growing domestic aviation sector that is grappling with a shortage of trained pilots.

Some pilots from Kingfisher and Air India have requested the sector regulator to do away with the compulsory notice period to facilitate easier movement. According to a recent report by research and analysis body Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation , India will need at least 90,000 crew, including pilots, to steer its aviation growth over the next 20 years.

The sector is currently growing at 18%. Aircraft maker Boeing has forecast a $150-billion market for 1,320 new passenger airplanes in India over the next 20 years. Domestic air traffic growth through 2014-15 is forecast to touch 16.7% per annum.

BSF head constable along the Indo-Bangladesh border near Bongaon in North 24-parganas

A group of miscreants attacked and injured a Border Security Force (BSF) head constable along the Indo-Bangladesh border near Bongaon in North 24-parganas. Senior BSF officers have refused to comment on the identity of those involved in the attack. It is still not clear whether the attackers were cattle smugglers or Bangladeshis trying to enter India illegally. It is also possible that the group was trying to enter Bangladesh. The jawan has been shifted to Kolkata for treatment.
"We are not ruling out any possibility. One of our patrols chanced upon a group moving near the international border in the wee hours of Friday morning. Before the troopers could react, members of that group pulled out sharp weapons and slashed at them. Within seconds, they melted into the shadows on the Bangladesh side. They could be infiltrators from Bangladesh or people trying to leave India," an officer said.
Security along the international border has been tightened after the Mumbai blasts on Wednesday. Intelligence agencies suspect that those who orchestrated the blasts may have moved towards Bengal. According to sources, it is a possibility that those involved could try to escape to Bangladesh. Though the Bangladesh government has taken steps to curb anti-India activity, terror modules still exist there. BSF officers said the jawans didn't open fire as the group had already entered Bangladesh. Any sudden firing along the border may have resulted in a diplomatic row

Priyanka Chopra Best Actress Some Sexi Movies Online

Priyanka Chopra in Fashion
If you’re speaking of Priyanka’s best performances, you have to dedicate a fair share to Fashion. While her portrayal of a high fashion model brought both positive critical reception and box office success her way, it was the National Film Award for Best Actress that was the cherry on top.
Priyanka Chopra in Dostana
Priyanka Chopra in Dostana
When Priyanka Chopra wasn’t playing intense villainous roles or emulating high fashion models, she was charming everyone with her Desi Girl avatar in Dostana. She played Neha, a character so appealing that the main leads were willing to play faux gay in the film. Good going Desi Girl.
Priyanka Chopra in Kaminey
Priyanka Chopra in Kaminey
Priyanka’s portrayal of Sweety in Kaminey has to be one of my favourites. She actually got into the skin of the character and embraced her role. Taking a non-glamorous approach, she wore minimal make-up and dressed as a simple Maharashtrian girl. It worked wonders for her audiences.
7 Khoon Maaf
7 Khoon Maaf
It’s not everyday you play the lead in a Vishal Bharadwaj movie and trump the other 7 actors in the film. It’s not everyday you act out the lifespan of a character on celluloid. Except, of course, if you’re Priyanka Chopra. We had barely recovered from watching her play 12 characters in What’s Your Rashee? when she tempted us with Suzanna’s seven shades in 7 Khoon Maaf. To date, it remains one of her most impressive performances.

Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra is celebrating her 29th birthday today

Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra is celebrating her 29th birthday today. The actress shot to fame after she won the 50th Miss World Pageant in London eleven years ago.
Hailing from Jharkhand, Piggy Chops had to fight her way to become one of the leading stars of Bollywood presently. She made her debut with Hero: Love story of a spy opposite Sunny Deol. Later with Andaaz, she was recognized by everyone.
priyanka-chpra_birthday
The actress has a lot to offer coming six months. Her Don 2 with Shah Rukh Khan is slated to release during Christmas. While her another two films, Agneepath and Barfee are slated to release in January next year.
After a brief break in Los Angeles, the actress has returned to India to celebrate birthday with her family.
Way2movies wishes Priyanka a very very happy birthday. Have a blissful life ahead Miss Chopra.

Priyanka Chopra Birthday Celebrate On 29th birthday

Yeah, the talented 'Desi Gal' of our B-town celebrates her birthday today! And we at IndiaGlitz wish her Many, Many Happy Returns of the Day....!
Priyanka Chopra, who recently landed in the city from Los Angeles, is however not in a celebration mood. The actress is very much feeling down owing to the grave situation, followed after the recent Mumbai blasts. So she has only a simple plan to have a quiet dinner with her near and dear ones.
PC, as she is lovingly called, made her impression the moment she won the Miss World crown. But then, it didn't end there and Priyanka went on to create a remarkable niche in the screen world with her acting. Yeah, a talent which even earned her a National Award, courtesy Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Fashion'.
Before that she made people to sit up and take notice, by playing negative role in 'Aitraaz'; thus becoming the second actress to win the Filmfare Best Villain Award after Kajol.
Priyanka next garnered limelight by becoming the only female actor in Indian cinema to don 12 different characters in Ashutosh Gowariker's romantic comedy 'What's Your Raashee?'
Now one can look forward to some promising movies of Priyanka, namely - Anurag Basu's 'Barfee' (Ranbir Kapoor), Farhan Akhtar's 'Don 2' (Shah Rukh Khan), Karan Johar's 'Agneepath' (Hrithik Roshan) and Rakesh Roshan's 'Krrish 2' (again Hrithik), among others.
Come, join and wish Priyanka a very Happy Birthday. May luck and success shine for her in the years to come.... Keep Rocking, Piggy Chops!

sails waxed on about the Settee Sail

In  my previous discussions on sails I waxed on about the Settee Sail  which is a  quadrilateral (4 sided)  sail.

It is 4 sided by dint of a very short luff. How short is open to adaptation, but in exploring the sail offered by Bill Mantis --in excruciating detail --I realized that he too was offering a Settee Sail. He may not call it that, but that's the lateen he uses.

I was exploring the Settee and seeing how it may relate to the  Mantis  rig when I realized that he was in fact was adapting a Settee by turning it 90 degrees. The spar/rod instead of being suspended from a short mast, became the mast.

So I grabbed an image of a canoe rigged with a Settee Sail and turned it 90 degrees.

(See image: drop head to left shoulder  to view original horizontal mode)

Sails are going to  be dependent on  wind dynamics and just because you flip a sail , it doesn't necessarily mean that you transfer all the harvestible energy of the original design with the flip.

But the fact that a good idea may work on a different dimension as well as its original is something I find very appealing.

first flight took off from Hamburg at 11:15 a.m. Central European Time,Lufthansa airline on Friday launched the first daily commercial passenger flights

Lufthansa
Travelers can now make it from Hamburg to Frankfurt in Germany and back using animal fat and plants, as the Lufthansa airline on Friday launched the first daily commercial passenger flights to run on biofuel.
The first flight took off from Hamburg at 11:15 a.m. Central European Time. Aircraft biofuel has been in demonstration phase for years, showing up in test flights by large jets, helicopters and even the Air Force Thunderbirds.
But now the blends are being worked into much heavier rotations. For four daily flights between the cities, Lufthansa will use a 50% biofuel blend in one of the engines of an Airbus A321.
The mixture of jatropha and camelina crops and animal fats was approved for use in jet engines earlier this month by the American Society for Testing and Materials, the reigning decision making body on fuels standards.
The fuel doesn’t require upgrades to existing engines and was sustainably sourced and produced so that no food crops or rainforests were impacted, the airline said. Lufthansa has spent about $9.3 million on biofuel projects so far, it said.
The roughly 250-mile flights will continue for six months as Lufthansa studies the effect of the biofuel blend on aircraft performance. But the company expects the trial run to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 1,500 tons.
Britain’s Thomson Airways has said it plans to operate a flight to Spain this summer using a biofuel mix involving cooking oil. Dutch airline KLM plans to use a similar blend for flights to and from France.
Biofuel will also play a major role in a hypersonic aircraft revealed by EADS last month at the Paris Air Show, which will be able to hop from Tokyo to Los Angeles in 2 1/2 hours.
Around the same time, the Air Transport Assn. of America said that several of its member airlines are gearing up to use fuel made from urban and agricultural waste in the next few years.

Howzat for cricket club's first beer festival,Perrott Cricket Club has come up with something special for its first beer festival

North Perrott Cricket Club has come up with something special for its first beer festival that’s being held at its Willis Lane ground, which has the reputation as one of the most picturesque in Somerset.

Palmers brewery in Bridport has produced a commemorative ale called ‘Keg B4 Wicket’ for the festival which takes place on Saturday, July 23rd from 4.00 pm to midnight. The special ale should be a big hit at the festival which will feature a choice of 24 specialist beers and eight ciders, many of which have been sponsored by local businesses and individuals. Admission price of £5 includes a souvenir glass and a free pint.
There will be live music from bands including The Beasties from London, plus a hog roast and barbecue. “Everything is being done to ensure that our first beer festival is the cricketing equivalent of hitting a six,” says Derek Boles, organising committee chairman. “We are hoping to attract support from people throughout the West Country, as well as real ale enthusiasts.”
At the heart of the festival is the club pavilion, opened in 2000, after a fund-raising campaign that raised £225,000 to build it, an incredible achievement for a small village with a big heart.
Somerset County Cricket Club has staged many of its 2nd X1 championship matches at North Perrott which is now the home venue for Somerset County Ladies X 1 matches.

Indian Government rupee symbol to be rolled out from January 2012

Come January 2012 and the symbol of the Indian rupee will appear on computer keyboards in the same row where the numerals and symbols of other currencies, say dollar, exist.
"The symbol is being approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and will be on the keyboards by January next year,” said N Ravi Shanker, additional secretary, department of information technology.
This would present a huge opportunity for the hardware players, especially with incremental sales coming from replacement of old keyboards.
“There is a big market for keyboard manufacturers as a direct result of the incorporation of the rupee symbol in keyboards. The significant strength exhibited by the Indian rupee in the recent months and continuous good performance of the Indian economy garner the need of the Indian rupee symbol in the keyboard,” said Anwar Shirpurwala, acting executive director, Manufacturer's Association of Information Technology (MAIT) .

little girl you met that she was smart instead of telling her she was pretty

Can you imagine meeting a friend’s gorgeous 5-year-old daughter for the first time and seeing her dressed in an adorable pink nightgown and not commenting at all on her appearance?
No, “Wow! Aren’t you the most adorable thing ever in that pretty pink outfit?”
No, “You look so pretty!”
Nope, not one word about any of that.
There is a great Huffington Post article that posted on June 22 by Lisa Bloom titled “How to Talk to Little Girls,” in which Bloom writes about meeting such a little girl and squelching her urge to comment on the darling girl’s appearance. Bloom is a firm believer that too much emphasis is placed on girls’ looks and not on their minds. So when she talks to girls–both little and not so little–she doesn’t comment on their appearance. Ever.
Instead, she asks them what book they are reading. She will ask them their opinions on current events. She asks them if they had a magic wand how would she fix what bothers her about the world.
Hmmm… what a novel concept.
I’ve tried very hard and very consciously not to pass on my weight issues to my daughter by never saying the word "diet" and lying to her by saying I exercise to stay healthy (healthy schmealthy, I just want to be skinny!), but I always tell my daughter that she’s pretty. I tell her when she looks nice. I compliment her the two times a month she actually brushes her hair, and tell her daily how much I love the color of her eyes.
Yes, I do compliment her mind as well. I’ve always tried to balance complimenting her looks with complimenting her wonderfully creatively brilliant mind, and I actually think I do a pretty good job of that.
But what about other girls? I’m trying to recall a time in the recent past that I’ve complimented another girl on something other than her appearance.
I love your haircut, That’s such a cute outfit, Wow your eyes look so blue when you wear that dress–all just come flowing out of my mouth with such ease, but I can’t quite recall the last time I asked a girl what book she was reading or what concerns she had about the world around her.
I’m sure that I have. (I hope that I have.) But sadly nothing comes to mind.
So, I’m going to try it. I can’t promise that I will never compliment another girl on her appearance (especially my daughter), but I’m going to do my best to squelch the urge. The next time I meet a young girl or see one that I already know, whether she is five or fifteen, instead of saying, “Your eyes are so pretty,” I’m going to say, “What book are you reading?” or maybe “What changes would you like to see in the world?”
Because when ABC News reports that nearly half of all three to six-year-old girls worry about being fat, then I know we are doing something wrong. And I want to help the future women of this world by doing something right.
Yes, I do think it’s important for girls and for women to feel good about the way they look and to feel beautiful. But it’s even more important that they know the most beautiful thing about them is their wonderfully creatively brilliant minds.
